DVD Graphics
Time-Life has been gracious enough to send me an advance copy of the DVDs and they look phenomenal, both in packaging and content. You will be stunned at the incredible quality of this set.
Individual Season Artwork
A few important notes about the menu screens. First, the quality is lesser than you will see on the DVDs, as I wanted to make it harder for bootleggers to use these images. In addition, I have placed my URL overtop of the images for the same reason. That graphic is NOT on the actual screen. One absolutely wonderful feature of these DVDs is that it takes no time at all to get to the content. There's no previews or lengthy legal pages. It's the HBO logo and then the content. You can get to content in less than 20 seconds!
Some descriptions:
Menu 1 - This is a montage of graphics and moving video that opens each season.
Menu 2 - This is the first menu page, allowing you to select individual episodes or play all in order. The video in the circle is moving.
Menu 3 - If you select "Episodes" from the previous menu, you get a cool graphic/video combination that mimics the doors sequence from the show's credits.
Menu 4 - After you select an episode from the above menu, you get this page which appears during Barbara's audio intro. If you want to skip the commentary, just click on "Play." There is no chapter menu page for each episode, but there are chapter points in each episode.
Here's a quick look at some bonus feature menus, with explanations below.
Bonus 1 - Every disc begins with the HBO logo. I mention this some people tried to discredit my scoop of September 2005 that HBO would be releasing the show on DVD by claiming that HBO wasn't involved. I just thought it'd be neat to mention that for a company that wasn't involved, their logo opens every disc and their copyright logo appears at the end of every episode.
Bonus 2 - This is the menu that appears to list the bonus features, with moving video in the circle.
Bonus 3 - The secondary menu if you select a bonus feature that has options.
Bonus 4 - My buddy Sue in the "Fans of Get Smart" featurette and you can see the type of graphics used in the bonus features.
Bonus 5 - A screen capture from my favorite featurette! :)
